Basal implantation. Evil or innovation?

The cost of orthodontic correction is determined individually and depends on the chosen treatment method. Price is a relative concept.

In the 1940s, the cost of orthodontic treatment for a teenager in the U.S. was comparable to the price of a brand-new four-door Chevrolet. Today, the cost of similar cars far exceeds even the most expensive types of orthodontic treatment.

Over time, bite correction technologies have become increasingly advanced and straightforward, making them more accessible.

However, for many people, the question of the cost of a beautiful smile remains relevant. It seems too expensive. What exactly are you paying for? Is the treatment worth the price, and where is it best to undergo it? Why can a low initial cost sometimes lead to higher expenses in the end?

Orthodontic treatment is expensive because the process of moving teeth takes time. As a result, complete bite correction usually takes about two years for children and slightly longer for adults. Weak forces are applied to move the teeth, ensuring the blood flow and nerve function remain unaffected. The teeth gradually shift, adapting the surrounding ligaments.

Moving teeth too quickly and applying significant force can lead to pathological processes in the mucous membrane, which in turn can cause tooth dislocation and loss. An important aspect is also stabilizing the achieved result, which often takes twice as long as the treatment itself. Therefore, orthodontic treatment cannot be quick, and thus it cannot be cheap.

Monitoring and adjusting the movement of teeth must be done regularly, requiring monthly visits to the doctor for activation or correction of the process.

Thus, the cost of treatment includes the price of the braces, materials, and the meticulous work involved in straightening the teeth and correcting the bite. It’s a lengthy and painstaking process.

Additional expenses include repairing the braces in case of accidental damage. Braces and other fixators can detach from the teeth if handled carelessly.

Sometimes a low initial price can lead to high costs in the future. Different clinics may have varying payment principles. For example, the overall cost might not include repairs for detached braces, removal of the brace system, or the production of a retainer. These details should be clarified before starting treatment.

Is it worth investing in straight teeth? Perhaps you’ve always dreamed of a perfect smile, admiring photos in glossy magazines. But few consider how important proper alignment is for the health of your teeth.

Proper bite alignment significantly reduces the likelihood of the following problems:

  • cavities and tooth loss;
  • gum disease and tooth loosening;
  • temporomandibular joint dysfunction;
  • issues with chewing and speech;
  • excessive wear of tooth enamel.

If you calculate the cost of treating gum disease, cavities, and potential future implants, it far exceeds the cost of correcting your bite. Investing in healthy teeth not only earns you the respect of others but also improves your mood, career success, and much more.

Orthodontic treatment is a long-term investment in your future health and an opportunity to enjoy a beautiful smile right now.
