Aligners for aligning teeth
5 Important
Facts Jaw and teeth abnormalities rank high among conditions affecting the oral and facial region. According to statistics, over 80% of the world’s population has some form of bite pathology. In the U.S., only a third of people have proper teeth alignment, while the rest suffer from various issues. The situation in Ukraine is similar.
In the past, braces were the only solution for straightening teeth. However, dentistry, particularly orthodontics, has advanced significantly, and today, there is an alternative to braces—aligners.
What are aligners?
Aligners are transparent trays made from high-quality German biopolymer, customized for each patient. These devices help correct the position of teeth in the dental arch, while remaining thin, durable, and nearly invisible.
When are aligners needed?
Aligners are used in the following cases:
- For large gaps between front teeth (diastema) or between other teeth (tremas)
- To correct the tilt or rotation of one or more teeth
- In cases of crowded teeth, especially in the front
- To prepare the jaw for implant placement
- To correct previous orthodontic treatment
Who are aligners suitable for?
Aligners are ideal for those who care about their appearance and social status:
- Teenagers over 14 years old, who value an active social life
- Women, for whom appearance plays a crucial role in their career
- Anyone aiming to maintain a flawless image Aligners allow you to keep your usual lifestyle without disrupting your career, daily routine, or public appearances.
Advantages of aligners
- Predictable results: During the first consultation, after creating a virtual model, the patient can see how the treatment will progress and what the final outcome will be.
- Aesthetics: Transparent aligners are virtually invisible, do not cause psychological discomfort, and do not affect speech.
- Safety for enamel: Aligners do not damage the enamel and leave no marks after treatment is completed.
- Ease of use: The trays are easy to remove and put on, causing no discomfort.
- No dietary restrictions: Aligners are removed before eating, allowing you to enjoy any food without restrictions.
- High level of hygiene: Aligners do not require special care products and do not complicate oral hygiene.
- Quick results: Visible changes can be observed within a few months, unlike braces.
What to keep in mind?
The effectiveness of aligner treatment largely depends on the patient’s discipline and adherence to the orthodontist’s recommendations.
The dentist creates a certain number of trays, for example, 10, which need to be changed monthly.
To ensure that the treatment lasts the planned 10 months, it is important to wear the aligners according to the schedule, change them on time, and use them correctly.
If a tray is lost, you should wear the previous or next one and contact your orthodontist as soon as possible to have a new one made. However, it’s best to avoid such situations, as losing a tray can delay the treatment process.
The downside of aligners is that they are not suitable for all cases. Aligners may not be effective in treating severe bite pathologies, where braces might still be necessary.
