Soft tissue management

Soft tissue management of the jaw is a set of procedures aimed at restoring and improving the condition of the gums and other soft tissues of the oral cavity. These procedures are necessary to create a healthy environment around the teeth and implants, as well as to achieve aesthetic results.
Soft tissue management helps to avoid gum recession, improve the gum contour, increase the volume of soft tissues or cover exposed roots of teeth. Such procedures are often preparatory before implantation or orthodontic treatment.
Soft tissue management may include a variety of surgical and non-surgical procedures.
These include:
- Gingivoplasty (gum reshaping)
- Soft tissue grafting (to increase gum volume)
- Flap surgery (to treat gum disease)
- Frenuloplasty (to correct the position of the frenulum)
These procedures are aimed at strengthening soft tissues, improving their function and aesthetics, and preventing gum disease and its consequences.
Soft tissue management procedures are performed under local anesthesia, so the patient does not experience pain during the procedure. However, swelling and discomfort may occur after the procedure, which can be controlled with pain medications prescribed by the doctor.
To speed up healing and prevent complications, it is important to follow the recommendations for oral care in the postoperative period.
Recovery time depends on the volume and complexity of the procedures performed. Primary healing after minor procedures, such as gingivoplasty, can take from 7 to 10 days. However, with more serious procedures, such as soft tissue grafting, recovery can last up to several weeks.
During this period, it is important to follow all the doctor's recommendations, avoid excessive stress on the jaw and maintain oral hygiene for successful tissue healing.
